About

History:

Lenize Patton and her husband purchased rental property in hopes of supporting the Women’s Shelter and the Homeless Shelter of Onslow County. Throughout 2013, several attempts were made to solicit clients from these programs into the rental properties, but without success due to a lack of programs that funded the transition process from homeless to stable housing. In January of 2014, Mrs. Patton decided to develop a non-profit organization that provides a Faith-based transitional housing program for the homeless. On November 14, 2014, Philippians Place received official non-profit status through the Internal Revenue Service. The first Board meeting was held on June 26, 2014. In August of 2014, Philippians Place took in its first client, a mother and her three children. Since that time, Philippians Place has taken in six single clients, and five mothers with children.

Did You Know?

Our name comes from God’s Living Word: Philippians 2:1-5: therefore if you have any encouragements from being united in Christ, if any comfort from His love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one ion spirit and of one mind.  Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit.  Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interest of others.  in your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus.  We pray that you will seek God’s wisdom, so you may value and serve the ones He places in your path.

New Office Space

We now have an office space!  This is so exciting because we now have a regular meeting place, our team has a central location to get paperwork completed, printed and filed. and we now have place where we can have classes and Bible studies!  One of the initial reasons for having an office space was to be able to teach various group classes for our clients and others. Classes that we will teach include: budgeting, meal planning, organization strategies, resume writing, and completing application information sheets.  As we gro, we will add more classes as the need arises.  We are excited about this opportunity to teach new skills to those in need, and we look forward to making a difference in people’s lives.

Since we have a new office, we have new contact information:  PO Box 234, Jacksonville, NC 28541; 910-378-7908
